Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley applauded for being 'real' and told 'just get rid' as she shares her 'normal' beauty ritual

Lisa Riley has been praised for 'normalising' a beauty ritual as she posted a candid snap on her Instagram. The Emmerdale favourite from Bury sparked a discussion after she shared her routine to tend to her top lip.

The soap star posed makeup free with a towel wrapped around her head as she bleached her upper lip hair. Lisa, 46, who has played the iconic character Mandy Dingle from 1995 to 2001, reprising the role in 2019, had a laugh with fans as she said the home treatment needs to be done every couple of months.

"Yes that Saturday morning ritual that needs to be done about every six to seven weeks….otherwise…as I discovered yesterday in selfies you look like you have brown gravy on your top lip in photos PMSL!!!" she joked.

Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes shared crying laughing emojis. Mandiec2000 applauded: "So good to see someone normalising this!" and julierobbbins said: "Well done for being so 'real' xx"

The post prompted Lisa's followers to share their own stories and tips. queenbroms300 said: "I used to bleach mine but then I discovered dermaplaning and I don’t look back! Make up goes on smoother and it doesn’t grow back thicker!"

jogallagher28 told her: "Threading is more effective and the hair doesn't come back as quick." sukipan73 echoed: "You should get it threaded instead." And angelina_dennison4 suggested: "I'm having Lazer treatment for underarms & bikini & it's brilliant for top lip
