Emmerdale fans have once again been left asking 'why' as Amit Sharma's death secret appeared to be 'exposed'. Viewers of the ITV soap haven't quite trusted Amit, played by Anil Goutam, following his arrival in the village last year after the death of his brother Rishi.

As Emmerdale fans know, it was confirmed last summer that Rishi wasn't actually Jai Sharma’s dad after he stumbled across his adoption papers while looking for his divorce papers after popping the question to now-wife Laurel.

It's fair to say Jai didn't take to well to the news and the truth about Jai’s DNA was eventually revealed when Jai's mum, Georgia, arrived in the village. But tragically, before they could make amends, Rishi died on Jai and Laurel's wedding day. He was found the morning after the celebrations by Jai at the bottom of the stairs at his home with his cause of death later being ruled as accidental.

However, there was a moment back in October when Amit joined his son Suni at Rishi's former home. Amit stopped deadly still at the sight of the staircase, with the camera panning right to where Rishi died, with sinister incidental music added in the background.

After finding out Amit had seen Rishi just before his death, Jai has accused him of murder, despite him and Suni protesting it was an accident and his brother had fallen during a row. But it appears a murder twist may have been confirmed in the latest episode of Emmerdale on Tuesday night (February 20).
