Emma Raducanu turns to Andy Murray’s former trainer and seeks another new coach after sacking Dmitry Tursunov

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has turned to Andy Murray’s former trainer Jez Green to address her ongoing injury problems.

Raducanu has struggled with on-and-off injuries ever since her incredible triumph at the 2021 US Open and is also seeking a new permanent coach to work with after she decided not to extend her partnership with Russian Dmitry Tursunov.

The 19-year-old crashed out in the first round of Flushing Meadows in August and since then has had injury problems at three different WTA Tour tournaments.

She needed a medical time-out over a left leg issue at the Slovenia Open, which eventually saw her lose her second-round match to German Anna-Lena Friedsam.

Raducanu then participated at last month’s Korea Open – reaching her first semi-final of the season – but was forced to retire after suffering a left glute injury in the third set of her match against top seed Jeļena Ostapenko.

The British No.1, who has fallen down to world No.68 despite being ranked as high as No.10 in July, then competed at the Ostrava Open, losing in the first round to Russian Daria Kasatkina.

Following that defeat, Raducanu decided to withdraw from the Transylvania Open in Romania – the country where her father is from – as well as the Guadalajara Open, citing a wrist injury as her reason not to compete at the two tournaments.

It has become a recurring problem for Raducanu, who is scheduled to play in November’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals as team captain for Great Britain, which will be her last event of 2022.

Raducanu will now work with Murray’s former physical trainer Green as she looks to ensure that she is not affected by injuries
