Emma Raducanu reveals why she donned Tottenham kit as she names her favourite footballers

Tennis talent Emma Raducanu appeared to announce herself as a Tottenham fan earlier this week, but it's now apparent not all was as it seemed.

Spurs supporters were quick to claim the British sensation as one of their own after she trained in Stuttgart decked out in Spurs white. Raducanu is currently in Germany preparing for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix after exiting the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers.

But it turns out the 19-year-old isn't all that invested in the north London outfit, who are reeling from a 1-0 Premier League loss at home to Brighton this past Saturday. However, that's not to say there isn't room for the Canada-born star to develop an affinity for Antonio Conte 's men.

"My whole team basically are big Spurs fans and I feel like they're egging me on," explained the 2021 US Open champion. "They're desperately trying to get me behind them. I don't necessarily follow football so much, but I feel like now because of them I'm feeling some sort of connection."

As for her favourite players, the teenager went on to say she "loved following the Euros last year and watching Harry Kane, who's obviously the England captain, and [Heung-min] Son, I'm a big fan of him as well. So yeah, I like to dabble."

It's understandable that tennis has taken such a prominent place in Raducanu's life thus far that she may not have had much interest in football. The British No. 1 was born in Toronto to a Romanian father and a Chinese mother, but she's spent much of her life raised in Bromley, southeast London.

Based purely on geography, Crystal Palace fans may feel upset Raducanu didn't gravitate towards Selhurst Park before now. Looking further down the divisions, Charlton Athletic or Millwall might have also captured
