Emma Raducanu discovers who she will face as star name is added to Nottingham entry list

US Open Champion Emma Raducanu will only be the No.2 see in the LTA’s Rothesay Open Nottingham next week, after world No.3 Maria Sakkari confirmed she will play.

The Greek star accepted a wild card into the WTA 250 event, ensuring Raducanu was pushed down to second seed status for a tournament that will kick-start the grass court season in England.

Sakkari was beaten in the second round at the French Open and has opted to start her grass court campaign earlier than expected with entry into the draw in Nottingham.

Raducanu will face world No.53 Viktorija Golubic in the first round and could face an all-British match-up against Heather Watson the second round.

The teenager is due to speak to the media on Monday in Nottingham, as she prepares to enter a phase of her season that will see her defending ranking points from last year.

Former British No.1 Annabel Croft believes Raducanu could spring a few surprises this summer, as she backed the 19-year-old to shine in front of her home fans.

“I think she might surprise people,” Croft told Tennis365 in an exclusive in association with Game4Padel.

“She is a big match player on the big stage. “It is going to be difficult to cope with all the tension and pressure this summer, but she copes with it very well.

“She has not done too badly so far. She has lost some tight matches, but she
