Emile Heskey's son Jaden becomes latest Man City youngster to sign professional contract

Jaden Heskey has become the latest Manchester City academy player to sign a professional contract with the club.

A number of youngsters are announcing their first professional deals with City this week, and striker Heskey has confirmed his new contract on Instagram alongside pictures of family and friends at his official signing.

Heskey, 17, is the son of former Liverpool and England striker Emile, who was present at the City Football Academy when Jaden signed his contract.

The striker had an inconsistent season last term with injuries, but still returned six goals in 18 appearances across under-21, under-19 and under-18 levels.

He joins fellow forward Will Dickson in signing his first professional contract, along with defenders Lakyle Samuel, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Seb Naylor. Forward Farid Alfa-Ruprecht is another to sign a deal for the first time.

Heskey is not the only son of a former Premier League player at the club, with goalkeeper True Grant also signing professional terms. He is the son of former Manchester United and Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant.

Posting on Instagram, Heskey wrote: "Very proud moment to sign my first professional contract."
