Emerson Fittipaldi throws weight behind Ferrari chances to win world title

Emerson Fittipaldi says that this season is Ferrari’s best chance to win a world title for the first time in a long time in Formula 1.

The Scuderia are looking so strong at the moment, with them converting impressive testing form in the winter into a bright start to the campaign.

They’ve won the Bahrain Grand Prix and scored two double podiums so far, with Charles Leclerc on pole for the Australian Grand Prix tomorrow as well.

They’re in great shape at the moment, then, and Fittipaldi believes that 2022 could well be the year of the Prancing Horse based on the evidence that he has seen so far.

“In my opinion, this is the year for Ferrari to win the World Championship again,” he told Vegas Insider.

“This is the year for sure. This is the year for Ferrari to win the Championship.

“I know Red Bull is there, Max (Verstappen) is there, Sergio Perez is there. But there’s a chance for Ferrari to win the Championship. I think it can happen this year. They look very strong, very strong. Both drivers. Both drivers are very, very strong.

“Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, they are on a very high level of driving. They are committed to trying to win the championship. They know it themselves. They have a chance to win the championship.

“When the driver starts to see and knows that he has the potential to win the World Championship, he’s going to grab it and drive 110% all the time.”
