Ellis release date, cast and episode count: Everything there is to know about Channel 5 drama

Ellis is set to make its highly anticipated debut on the small screen but when can viewers expect to tune in?

The new Channel 5 series follows two detectives as they tackle seemingly impossible cases that have reached a dead end with actors Sharon D Clarke and Andrew Gower leading the cast.

As audiences eagerly await the premiere, here's everything you need to know about Ellis.

The wait is almost over, as Ellis is set to premiere on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, at 8pm on Channel 5.

Additionally, the show will be available to stream on Acorn TV from Monday, November 4.

Actress Sharon D Clarke takes on the lead role of DCI Ellis, a police officer described as both "compassionate and determined".

Clarke is known for her roles in Holby City, where she played Lola Griffin from 2003 to 2019, and more recently in the BBC drama Mr Loverman.

Her other notable credits include Doctor Who, Showtrial, Red, White And Royal Blue, and Rocketman.

Clarke is joined by Andrew Gower, who plays her trusted partner DS Harper.

Gower has previously appeared as Prince Charles Edward Stuart in Outlander and Nick Cutler in Being Human.

The cast also features Charley Webb as Abbie Summerfield, Josh Bolt as DI Archie Dent, and Wayne Foskett as Michael Edwards.

Ellis season one will feature a concise three episodes, each approximately 90 minutes in duration.

The series is set to air weekly on Channel 5, with the final episode scheduled for Thursday, November 14.

Yet, the question remains: what "impossible" cases will the detectives face, and what methods will they employ to unravel them?
