Elie Youan completes Hibs permanent transfer as Easter Road club hit button on three-year deal

Hibs have hit the button to turn Elie Youan's loan deal into a permanent stay in Leith.

Record Sport revealed last week the Easter Road club were set to make their move on the six-figure agreement in place with parent club St Gallen. And Hibs have now activated that option with the French forward agreeing a three-year deal.

Youan has netted seven times in 33 appearances for Lee Johnson’s side since joining on loan from the Swiss side last summer. A burst of form that saw him net six times since the end of January including in Saturday’s 2-1 win over St Mirren helped catapult the Easter Road club back into the top six as they fight for a European spot. With seven Premiership assists he’s also among the leading top flight creators. Johnson admitted he's delighted to get the the 24-year-old tied down long term.

He said: "We are delighted to bring Elie to the club on a permanent basis. We always believed he had the attributes to help us and his positive form this season shows how important it was to include an option to buy clause in his initial loan agreement.

“I’d also like to thank the Gordon family for backing us with a significant financial investment, which allowed us to make him a Hibs player. There’s no doubt that Élie’s got a lot of unique attributes; he’s rapid, can repeatedly sprint, and is a good finisher. He’s still young and we need to keep developing him off the ball, so he can achieve his full potential. We can’t wait to keep working with him, so he can become an even more important player for us.”
