Eleven players set to miss Man City vs Arsenal title showdown as Guardiola and Arteta rocked by injury blows

Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta could both be forced to make numerous changes this weekend. Manchester City will lock horns with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon as both sides hope to gain an edge in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners are currently top of the table, but only a seven-goal difference separates them from Liverpool in second. Meanwhile, the reigning champions sit third and trail the two clubs by just one point.

After surrendering first place to City late last season, Arsenal will be determined to finally get their hands on some silverware. The north London outfit haven't won an English top-flight title in almost 20 years, so Arteta could very well throw the kitchen sink at City.

Guardiola could have a trick or two of his own up his sleeve as the master looks to outsmart his apprentice. With that being said, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at how many players from either side could miss the title showdown.

Ederson

Ederson suffered a hamstring injury in Manchester City's draw with Liverpool. The 30-year-old goalkeeper missed his side's win over Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarterfinal, as well as Brazil's friendlies against England and Spain.

"[Ederson] is getting better, hopefully he'll be ready after the international break," said Guardiola before the scheduled Premier League fixture interval. "He'll have two weeks off then, he'll recover, we'll see how he feels."

Kevin De Bruyne
