Elegbeleye’s emergence good omen for NPFL, says Propel Sports

Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye

Africa Chairman of Propel Sports Africa (PSA), Basil Kabbani, has congratulated Gbenga Elegbeleye on his emergence as substantive head of the Nigeria Premier League board.

Elegbeleye was announced as chairman of the reconstituted board by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau, following his successful piloting of the now defunct Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season.

In a statement, Kabbani wrote, “We congratulate wholeheartedly the newly constituted members of the Nigeria Premier League Board under the leadership of its Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye.”

Propel had two months ago penned a broadcast streaming partnership with the IMC for live Over The Top (OTT) global broadcast of the NPFL from the 2023/24 season.

“In May this year, we had the honour to sign a joint venture agreement with the NPL, under the leadership of Elegbeleye as interim chairman and GTI, under the leadership of Abubakar Lawal, to bring live streaming of over 300 games to all Nigerians, and simultaneously broadcast these games to Nigerians in the diaspora and audiences throughout the world, showcasing the excitement brand quality of the resurgent NPFL,” the Propel Sports Africa boss said.

He said his team has been tremendously enthused by how the football community in Nigeria and abroad has embraced the project, noting, “We will soon be announcing our chosen Telco partner in readiness for the launch of the 2023/24 season.”

While wishing Elegbeleye and his board members a very successful season, Kabbani ended with a promise “to work with the NPL and GTI to have a commercially successful partnership.”

He also disclosed that the streaming app to be known as NPFL Live
