Electronics switch boosts Kawasaki WorldSBK challenge

While the rider market is set ahead of the 2023 WorldSBK season opener, staff musical chairs have continued at Yamaha and KRT.

Electronics Engineer Davide Gentile has returned to Yamaha, to partner Toprak Razgatlioglu and Phil Marron, after working alongside Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea for the past few seasons, with Sander Donkers replacing the outgoing Italian for the coming year.

Heading in the opposing direction, Christophe Lambert leaves the Pata squad in favour of the newly created Electronics and Data Engineering Co-ordinator position at the Barcelona-based team. The move sees the Frenchman renew a previous working relationship with Alex Lowes, as he looks to “oversee an overall expansion of the team’s efforts in terms of electronics, with the sole aim of improving on-track performance during race weekends.”

“After analysing areas in KRT workflow that we could enhance we detected the need to introduce a new role to support the technical staff more and to extract the maximum from the electronics system,” KRT Team Manager Guim Roda explained. “At the same time, we need to evaluate the quantity of data we generate on race weekend much faster.

“In the past, we have realised where we could have been better a few days after the race – which is inefficient. This new staff situation allows us to better analyse all the information we create to react fast in real time during the race weekend.

“We found in Christophe good experience and potential and we are quite sure we gonna make another step to improve our performance with him onboard.
