El Clasico: Why do Barcelona have an owl on their shirt vs Real Madrid?

Barcelona will wear Drake’s OVO owl logo on their shirts for this weekend’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.

The Canadian rapper became the first to surpass 50 billion streams on Spotify – Barcelona’s main sponsor – and the Spanish club will celebrate that incredible achievement.

As a result, the Spotify logo will be replaced with the silhouette of an owl for the match on Sunday.

As well as the owl logo, Barca are set to wear a special warm-up shirt, featuring the name 'Drake' and the number 50 on the back, with the Spotify logo on the front.

Drake shared the news on social media, writing: "To celebrate being the first artist with 50 billion streams on Spotify, Barcelona will wear the OVO owl at El Clasico on Sunday. This doesn’t feel real but it is."

In a club statement, Barcelona wrote: "One of the main ideas behind the alliance between FC Barcelona and Spotify is to bring football and music together in order to connect with new audiences around the world.

"As both are capable of bringing people together and exciting fans, for the first time, the men’s football team will enter the pitch for Sunday’s Clásico wearing a jersey featuring the logo of an internationally acclaimed artist – rapper and singer Drake, winner of 4 Grammy awards and the first to surpass 50 billion streams on Spotify – rather than their main partner’s logo."
