EK Thistle fear star Aaron Connolly is 'out for the season' in injury drama

East Kilbride Thistle fear that returning talisman Aaron Connolly could be out for the rest of this season after suffering a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Yoker.

The 30-year-old striker pulled up 10 minutes into the second half, and co-boss Alan Paterson hopes they caught it early enough to avoid a lengthy lay-off.

But Paterson admits it doesn’t look good for the former Ayr United striker, who only this week joined the Showpark club for a third spell.

“Aaron Connolly looks as if he’s pulled his hamstring on Saturday, which was another issue," he said.

“At 1-1 he was through on goal but his hamstring went just before he was about to pull the trigger.

“Aaron has come in and he’s not had his troubles to seek, but he has been good about the dressing room, good with the boys, and I was looking forward to working with him.

“He came in for his first goal, scored, and had a hand in our goal on Saturday, so he was doing well.

“He was saying it was still sore on Sunday, so we’ll need to get it looked at.

“We hope maybe we’ve caught it before any damage, but it doesn’t look great.

“If we have got it on time then it shouldn’t be too bad, but if we haven’t, then you’re talking about four to six weeks.

“And that’s just as he was getting back playing and starting to feel a part of it, so it’s a major set-back for him.”
