Eight former Aston Villa players we can't believe are still playing in 2022
Aston Villa have been through some turbulent years since the turn of the millennium and have seen a vast turnover of players coming in and out of the club each season.
The club has been operated under three different owners just in the last decade and has faced turmoil and triumph alike with relegation scraps, cup finals and promotion bids all coming in that time. In fact, since 2010, Villa have signed 113 different players on either loan or permanent deals.
Several players are still plying their trade across the world that you would've thought were either retired or putting their efforts into new ventures away from the pitch. has picked out eight former Villa stars who you might not believe are still playing professional football away from B6.
Former USMNT goalkeeper Guzan joined Villa from MLS club Chivas in 2008 and made a total of 171 appearances for the club across an eight-year stint in the Midlands. Guzan left Villa for Middlesbrough, who were playing in the Premier League club in 2016/17, before then returning to his homeland in 2017 to join Atlanta United where he continues to play at 37-years-old.
Continuing with an American theme and former Villa midfielder Bradley is also playing out the twilight years of his career in the MLS. Bradley only made four appearances for Villa after joining the club in January 2011 from German side Borussia Monchengladbach. At 34-years-old, Bradley is currently playing for Toronto FC.
Former Lazio striker Kozak arrived at Villa with a decent pedigree having netted 22 goals for the Italian club over the course of a few seasons in Serie A.
