Edu costly Man City transfer defeat should spark Arsenal's bold South America rethink

The facts are that Manchester City have agreed on a deal with Atletico Mineiro to sign exciting young winger Savio for a figure expected to be around €6.5m that could rise to €12.5m should all the bonuses be achieved.

Savio may be a fairly unknown name to most Arsenal fans and the 17-year-old is yet to score a senior goal for the club. This did not however stop the Manchester hyper club from identifying Savio along with Kayky, who was bought last summer, as the possible future of City.

Julian Alvarez will also arrive from River Plate in the summer having been bought in the previous winter window. But why should any Arsenal fan care that another relatively unknown youngster has got away and why should Edu be criticised?

It is a fair question. If anything, Arsenal are the most successful side in the league regarding young players having positioned themselves in pole for the top-four race with the youngest average side in the Premier League.

Ultimately this failed and Savio will join the French side Troyes, a club part of the City Football Group. He will then be loaned to PSV to gain experience
