Edin Dzeko discusses Roberto Mancini's influence at Man City

Edin Dzeko has explained how Roberto Mancini's influence at the Etihad Stadium led to Man City's success.

Dzeko joined City from Wolfsburg back in 2011 and during his time in Manchester he won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

Speaking to his old team-mate Micah Richards for the Daily Mail, the Bosnia-Herzegovina striker explained the role his former manager had in the Citizen's success.

"Mancini was such an influence," the 35-year-old explained.

"It wasn't easy for him, to bring all these players from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and all the rest to build a team.

"He was a massive reason why the club has become what it is now."

Dzeko also revealed that he had no intention of leaving City in the manner that he did in 2015.

He added: "Before I left in 2015, I had signed a new deal.

"I had another three years on my contract and I wasn't planning to leave.

"But you know football. Everything goes so quick. I've been in Italy seven years now and I am more than happy here."

Dzeko would join AS Roma initially on loan before signing permanently for the club in 2016.

At the beginning of this season, Dzeko joined Inter Milan where he has scored 13 goals in 31 appearances.
