Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has confirmed that he will be staying in the Spanish capital next season despite rumours linking him with a summer transfer. Chelsea were reportedly interested in bringing the Belgian back to Stamford Bridge after a disappointing start to life in La Liga but any hope of that happening has now vanished.
Carlo Ancelotti led Madrid to their 14th Champions League title on Saturday night, a Vinicius Jr goal enough to beat Liverpool 1-0 in Paris. Despite only making the bench for the clash, it was enough to earn Hazard his first Champions League winners medal having joined Chelsea shortly after their heroics against Bayern Munich in 2012.
Hazard left Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2019 for just over £100 million but his time in Spain has been hampered badly by injuries. The 31-year-old has mustered just 21 appearances in all competitions this season, the majority of which have come from the bench, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
It was understandable then that reports emerged suggesting that he could be on his way out from the Bernabeu after just two seasons, with Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal all linked with moves. But the player himself has now revealed that will not happen.
