Eddie Nketiah on the verge of Arsenal contract reversal following last-gasp offer

A final contract offer may have ended the ongoing Eddie Nketiah saga at Arsenal, as the striker looks set to accept the terms and remain at the club.

Speculation over whether or not Nketiah would remain at Arsenal has been ongoing for much of the season. The club have reportedly offered him multiple contract offers, which he has turned down.

Indeed, the striker wants to play regular football, and it seemed for much of the season he would not get that at The Emirates.

However, towards the end of the season Nketiah was given a bigger role. He started each of Arsenal’s last eight league games, as Alexandre Lacazette was relegated to the bench.

Nketiah showed his class, too, as he notched five goals in those games. He ended the season with 10 goals and one assist in all competitions.

With his contract up in the summer, though, it has looked likely that he would still leave the club. However, that may not be the case.

It was recently reported that Arsenal had offered the 22-year-old a final contract offer, before he is able to leave for free.

Journalist David Ornstein, via The Athletic, reports that he is set to put pen to paper on a new deal.

That will be a big bonus for Arsenal, as they will not lose out on one of their most promising talents.

While he struggled for minutes for much of the season, the last couple of months should show how important he is to the club. As such, he will likely be afforded a more regular role in the side, should the reports be accurate.

Seeing Nketiah remain at the club will be a boost for Arsenal. That is especially true with Lacazette out of contract this summer, too.
