Eddie Howe hails Newcastle United's vital Everton win but vows players will stay focused
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has underlined the significance of the Magpies putting together two wins in a row for the first time this season.
The 3-1 win over Everton meant the black-and-whites climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time since September and for the first time under Howe's tenure.
United now face Aston Villa on Sunday knowing they could be on their way to Premier League survival if they put their minds to it.
Howe said: "It is a big result for us because it was back-to-back wins.
"Consecutive wins in the Premier League are rare - they can change your status and elevate the club.
"We have to stay calm and focus on the next game.
"I think we are in a better place, but football has a way of twisting and turning, so we are not getting ahead of ourselves, we know how tough this league can be."
