Eddie Hearn wants Kell Brook to fight Conor Benn instead of Chris Eubank Jr

Eddie Hearn wants to see Kell Brook fight Conor Benn to determine who is ‘the best welterweight in Britain’.

The Special One shocked the boxing world with a stunning sixth-round technical knockout against Amir Khan last weekend.

While many expected Brook to win in Manchester, few predicted he would do so in such dominant fashion.

It was the kind of statement that left some boxing fans wondering how the Sheffield star might fare against Chris Eubank Jr.

However, Hearn has now proposed an alternative idea, which would pit Benn and Brook against each other instead.

As reported by talkSPORT, Hearn told DAZN: “The aim for Conor Benn is to become a welterweight world champion.

“As I said to Kell Brook last night, I think Conor Benn is the best welterweight in Britain.

“Now, off the back of that performance from Kell Brook, many will feel that he is.

“Kell Brook against Conor Benn is a brilliant fight, brilliant fight.

“One guy at the back end of his career, one guy a young rising star.

“Is it too early? Is it too late?

“I said to Kell last night, ‘Why would you even think about fighting Chris Eubank Jr, a middleweight, when you can fight a huge welterweight fight against Conor Benn?’”

Eubank Jr, 32, has also expressed interest in fighting Brook and believes he is in pole position to face him next.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Eubank said: “Of course I am at the front of the line.

“The day after the fight he was talking about fighting me at 155lbs. He doesn’t want to fight Conor Benn. That doesn’t make sense for him.

“If you were gonna put it into perspective, if he goes and fights me and loses he could actually go and fight Benn afterwards and the public will still be interested.

“He can’t go and fight Conor Benn
