Conor Benn vs Chris van Heerden: Fight date, time, tickets and how to watch on TV

All hopes of a Kell Brook clash have now seemingly been taken away from Conor Benn, whose next opponent has been confirmed. He will defend his WBA continental welterweight title against Chris van Heerden at the AO Arena in Manchester on April 16.

Conor is the son of Nigel Benn, who had a well publicised rivalry with Chris Eubank Sr in the 90s and their sons have since developed a rivalry, while Benn has also been looking for a fight against Brook, after the latter's recent victory over Amir Khan.

Benn remains undefeated in his 20 defeats and secured an impressive knockout win over former World Champion Chris Algieri last time out in December with an overhand right leaving the former opponent of Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr down for the count. He currently holds top ten rankings with the WBA, WBO and IBF after notching three wins during a breakout 2021.

Although he may not have received the fight he'd have been hoping for against Brook, he'll be facing a top opponent in the South African van Heerden. The 34-year-old had a tough fight with Spence Jr, and has also previously Matthew Hatton in convincing fashion.

Campbell Hatton - the son of legendary Manchester boxer Ricky - will feature on the card.
