Eddie Hall vs Hafthor Bjornsson: The Beast makes concerning concussion admission

Former World’s Strongest Man winner Eddie Hall has revealed just how intense preparation for his Hafthor Bjornsson fight has been by disclosing details of a concussion he suffered in sparring.

On March 19 in Dubai, fight fans around the world will finally get to see the culmination of a fun rivalry that’s been brewing between Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson. The two men have gone back and forth ever since the 2017 WSM competition, which was won by Hall.

Thor, who felt there was some controversy behind the result, would finally go on to capture the crown himself in the 2018 edition of the event.

Bjornsson also broke Hall’s deadlift record in 2020 with an insane lift of 501 kg (~1105 lbs) – although Eddie disputes the legitimacy of the achievement due to it taking place in his own gym during lockdown.

Now, all these years later, the big blow-off will come in the form of what is being billed as “The Heaviest Boxing Match in History” next Saturday.

In a pre-fight vlog from Dubai, Hall spoke candidly about his plans for the next few weeks as well as what he’s had to endure during training.

“Big Red is gonna be my main sparring partner whilst we’re here. I’ll only be doing a couple of sparring sessions but trying to keep the power down… Big Red hit me that hard the other week, he actually shut one of my eyes down. This pupil [left eye] went tiny and this one [right] stayed the same. He gave me a concussion, basically, and I had a bad head for about three days. It was good fun, but yeah, Big Red is here to help with the sparring side of things.”
