Ebbsfleet United wing-back Charlie Seaman signs new contract with National League South club

Charlie Seaman has extended his stay at Ebbsfleet into a second season.

The right wing-back proved a roaring success at Stonebridge Road after joining from fellow National League South side Maidstone last summer.

It’s a major coup for Fleet boss Josh Wright to retain Seaman’s services as the former Doncaster and Hartlepool man could easily step up a level or two.

The 26-year-old played 52 games across all competitions for the Fleet and scored eight goals in his debut campaign.

Having netted in the Kent Senior Cup at Cray Valley, Seaman scored in the FA Cup first round loss at League 2 Grimsby, putting the Fleet ahead and then having a stonewall penalty turned down.

His first league goal for Ebbsfleet didn’t arrive until the 4-1 loss at Chesham but he went on to score five more goals in the last two months of the season – including a stunning left-foot volley against Hampton in the last home game of the season.

Seaman was one of six players offered new deals at the end of the season by Ebbsfleet who had yet to put pen to paper. Defender Tom Dallison announced his departure last week with the futures of Jamie Fielding, Dominic Samuel, Mustapha Olagunju and Lennon Peake yet to be confirmed.
