Ebbsfleet United sign England youth international Louie Moulden on loan from Premier Division side Wolves for the rest of the season

A highly-rated England youth international goalkeeper has joined Ebbsfleet on loan from Premier Division Wolves - and has been handed the No.1 jersey.

Louie Moulden progressed through the Academy systems at both Liverpool and Manchester City before he penned a two-year deal at Molineux in the summer.

The 20-year-old gained valuable experience while on loan with National League North Gloucester City and has featured on the bench nine times in the Premier League for Wolves this season, as well as playing in the EFL Trophy for them.

He helps fill the void left by on-loan keeper Josh Gould who returned to Championship club Swansea earlier this month, which had left Chris Haigh as the Fleet’s only senior keeper, before Moulden's loan arrival for the remainder of the campaign was announced on deadline day.

"His distribution is excellent," Wolves technical director Scott Sellars said of Moulden's potential in the summer.

"He’s great with his feet, he’s a very strong shot-stopper, and he’s got a good pedigree, having been at Liverpool and Man City as a kid and playing for England at several levels."

He has played at every level for England up to under-19s and featured at the Under-17 European Championships.

While at City, Moulden featured for the club’s under-18s and under-23s sides - playing games for the latter in 2020/21 as they won the Under-23 Premier League 2 title.

Ebbsfleet visit rivals Dartford in National League South on Tuesday.
