Ebbsfleet United recognise Ed Miller's contribution with The Bruce Sewell Award for 2021/22

Ebbsfleet United have recognised Ed Miller's contribution to the club this season.

Miller is the club's communications manager but makes significant contributions to the club, not just on matchdays.

The Bruce Sewell Award is in memory of the fondly remembered former Fleet skipper who passed away from Motor Neurone Disease in 2010. It is awarded annually by the Fleet Supporters' Trust to someone who they select for outstanding contributions to the Fleet.

Miller is the brains behind Ebbsfleet's outstanding matchday programme, which would put many Football League clubs to shame.

The 49-year-old has authored two books about the Fleet and having started to follow the club as a teenager, he has hardly missed a game since.

As a history student at King's College London in the 1990s, he travelled back to Gravesend for home matches at weekends (and to away games).

In the noughties, he began helping with the club as a volunteer - including the website and programme - alongside his work as a magazine journalist.

For the past five years he has worked pretty much full-time for the club, including creating an award-winning match day programme, social media content, photography and learning live streaming from scratch during lockdown so supporters could still enjoy the game.

Wife Janet said: "Although his obsession with the club drives us mad at times (he has an extensive collection of football programmes, photographs and memorabilia!) myself and my daughter Katy, 16, are very proud of him."
