Ebbsfleet United manager Danny Searle determined to keep heads focused on National League survival battle amid impressive turnaround in form

Ebbsfleet manager Danny Searle won’t be getting carried away with his team’s amazing run of form.

The Fleet made it four successive National League wins after a last-gasp Dominic Samuel goal against Rochdale last Saturday extended their unbeaten start under Searle to six games.

Without a game this weekend due to scheduled opponents Solihull Moors’ FA Trophy exploits, the Fleet boss won’t be looking anxiously at other results.

If anything, he wants the teams around Ebbsfleet in the relegation fight to be taking notice of what his charges are doing.

“Obviously, you get excited [at winning],” admitted Searle. “At the end of the game on Saturday I nearly ended up flat on my back as I slipped across the grass with the celebration, but thankfully Toby Edser saved me!

“You do get excited and I want the players to enjoy the feeling, they have to enjoy it, but when the dust settles for us as a staff, we have to prep and make sure we’re right and managing the injuries and seeing how everyone is.

“It’s different if you’ve already lifted a trophy or already secured the points you need to, then you can get carried away, but we haven’t. Until that day comes, we’re just going to focus on keeping this run going.

“I don’t think we need to worry about other teams’ results. Everything is in our hands. Who would have thought Dorking would beat Chesterfield? But it doesn’t matter because it only matters if we don’t do our job.

“We need to keep doing our job and not worry about everyone else. Let them take care of themselves and, if anything, let them worry about us.”
