EasyJet flight to Manchester makes emergency diversion to France due to passenger needing 'urgent medical assistance'

An EasyJet was forced to make an emergency landing in France on Sunday afternoon (September 18) after a passenger needed 'urgent medical assistance'. The flight, which was heading to Manchester from Catania, in Sicily, had to make the diversion and land in the south of France.

The EZY1982 flight from the Italian island was spotted on FlightRadar flying over Nice before making its landing. The plane took off from Catania shortly after 11am, and had landed in France just two hours later.

EasyJet have confirmed the flight had to divert, with paramedics meeting the aircraft on arrival at Nice. The plane then continued back to Manchester airport.

From the flight path, the aircraft can be seen circling once before landing in Nice. The plane later jetted off from Nice again at 4.51pm.

A spokesperson for the airline said: “easyJet can confirm that flight EZY1982 from Catania to Manchester on 18 September diverted to Nice due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.

"Paramedics met the aircraft on arrival in Nice and the flight has since continued to Manchester. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority.”
