East Kilbride Thistle boss blasts Knightswood for 'taking liberties' with his players in draw

Furious East Kilbride Thistle boss Mark Steele accused Knightswood of ‘taking liberties’ with some of their challenges on his players in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

The Jags took a point off of the league leaders, but Steele feels they should have taken all three on a day they rattled the West of Scotland Fourth Division’s top side.

Steele claims their hosts took their physicality too far, but he was pleased to see how well they stood up to the Knightswood ‘gang.’

“I could hear the players pleading with the referee in the first half for a wee bit of protection.

“Knightswood probably turned up expecting just to turn us over.

“In the first half we were excellent and, but for some goalkeeping heroics, we could have been 3-0 or 4-0 up at half-time.

“Some of his saves were ridiculous and how he is playing at this level, I don’t know. A point
