East Kilbride's Adam Strachan video tribute after talented winger is laid to rest

East Kilbride FC have released a video tribute to tragic star Adam Strachan after the former winger was laid to rest yesterday.

The former Partick Thistle and Ross County star passed away suddenly last month at the age of just 35.

Strachan, who hailed from Maryhill, started his senior career at Partick in 2004, and played for several clubs in the junior and senior ranks including Albion Rovers, Clyde, Arbroath, Ross County and Clydebank.

His spell at East Kilbride was one of his brightest and most enjoyable of his career as he helped the side embark on a 'world record winning run' of 30-games that was recognised by Dutch giants Ajax, whose record EK eclipsed back in 2016 under boss Martin Lauchlan.

Strachan also guided the club to the Lowland League title that season with a number of goals and assists.

Yesterday, Strachan made his final journey as his cortege stopped at Firhill before a funeral mass at St Teresa of Lisieux Church in Glasgow. He was laid to rest at St Kentigern’s Cemetery in the city.

Former team-mate and ex-EK captain Barry Russell tweeted: "Great send off for Strachan today. Rest in peace, mate."

Fellow winger and ex-Kilby man Sean Winter posted: Great turn out from the East Kilbride FC boys today for Adam’s funeral…rest in peace Strachs. What a guy."

And now East Kilbride have released the players' highlights reel from his spell at K-Park, in a touching tribute to one of the most talented players to feature for the Lowland League outfit.
