East Kilbride confirm Mick Kennedy appointment as Darvel boss to take reins at K-Park

East Kilbride have appointed Mick Kennedy as their new manager.

Lanarkshire Live Sport revelaed earlier this month that Kilby wanted the former Darvel boss to be their next boss and they have now confirmed he will take the reins from next season.

Kennedy masterminded a Scottish Cup shock for the ages in January when his Darvel side defeated Premiership Aberdeen 1-0 and Kilby will hope he can be the manager who finally guides them to the SPFL next season after years of close calls in the fifth tier.

As expected, former Broomhill boss and Open Goal podcast host Si Ferry has been announced as his assistant.

A short staement from East Kilbride read: "East Kilbride Football Club are delighted to announce that Mick Kennedy will be in position as First Team Manager for the 23/24 campaign, with Simon Ferry as his Assistant.

"Martin Fellowes and Mark McKenna will remain in position as Interim, for the defence of the Lowland League Cup."

East Kilbride closed out their Lowland League campaign this afternoon as Fellowes guided the team to a 3-1 win at Cowdenbeath.

The club finished sixth in the table, having lead the way before Christmas under Kevin Rutkiewicz, who left the club last month.

EK now play Gretna next Saturday in the Lowland League Cup.

Kennedy resigned from his role at Darvel last Sunday, paving the way for his switch to K-Park.

Lanarkshire Live Sport understands as many as eight of Darvel's current squad could be set to join Kennedy at K-Park.
