East Belfast teen helps Rangers reach Scottish FA Youth Cup final

East Belfast teenager Charlie Lindsay was on target as Rangers Under 18s reached the Scottish FA Youth Cup final on Friday night.

The young Gers beat Hibernian 4-2 at Hibernian Training Centre to reach the showpiece decider.

Lindsay scored Rangers' first goal to make it 1-1, while a double from Robbie Ure and another from James Graham wrapped up the victory.

Rangers U18s can now look forward to a big final against Hearts which will be played at Hampden Stadium.

Rangers midfielder Mackenzie Strachan told Rangers TV after the game: “It’s hard to some up just now, but I thought all the boys were brilliant and superb.

"We all dug deep right to the end and we’re all buzzing to go to Hampden and hopefully win it. Everyone is absolutely buzzing; the atmosphere is superb.

“We’re all looking forward to it [Hampden], this is what we’ve been aiming to do all season. We’ve done it now and I think that will take care of itself now.”

Rangers last lifted the Youth Cup in 2019 and this season they remain in the hunt for the CAS title.

Lindsay, 17, helped Rangers Under 18s clinch the Club Academy Scotland (CAS) league title last season alongside fellow Northern Ireland youth internationals Lewis MacKinnon and Ross McCausland.

Lindsay joined the Ibrox club's Academy on a full-time deal back in 2020 and has gone on to impress during his time in Glasgow.

The youngster had made a number of guest appearances for Rangers from former club Glentoran before rubber stamping a permanent deal with the Scottish giants.
