Dylan Napa endures nightmare Catalans Dragons debut after being sent off for reckless high tackle

Dylan Napa had a Catalans debut to forget after being sent off on his first appearance for the club.

Napa, an NRL Grand Final winner, was shown a red card for a brutal head high tackle in the closing stages of the Dragons' heavy defeat to St Helens.

Napa was dismissed for a reckless stiff after which forced Mark Percival from the field. The forward, whose discipline had already seen him concede penalties during the game, is now set for a lengthy suspension.

It was a bad night all around for the Dragons, who saw Gil Dudson sin-binned in the opening minute and another new signing, Tyrone May, withdrawn with an eye injury.

In a repeat of last year's Grand Final, St Helens ran out convincing 28-8 winners. Though Fouad Yaha had given the visitors an early lead, tries from Louis Dodd, James Roby, Joey Lussick, Konrad Hurrell and a brace from Tommy Makinson secure Kristian Woolf's side a dominant win to lay down an early marker.

Napa made 174 NRL appearances during his time in the competition and won the Grand Final with Sydney Roosters in 2018.
