DWP issue advice to people who think they should have been paid £299 cost of living payment

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has urged those who reckon they've missed out on their final £299 cost of living payment not to call them.

Instead, eligible households have been advised to report the issue online. More than seven million claimants on means-tested benefits have been paid the £299 instalment, according to the DWP, with the final payment made on Thursday (February 22).

It's estimated that some 77,000 people may still be waiting for the cash. A total of £900 has been paid to households on means-tested benefits such as Universal Credit this financial year, with £150 to those on disability benefits, and up to £300 to pensioners on top of their Winter Fuel Payment.

People are encouraged to make an online report if they were expecting one of the following payments but are yet to receive it:

Before reporting a missing payment, the DWP advises to check your bank, building society or credit union account, or your Payment Exception Service voucher receipt.

It comes as The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed it is carrying out a full review of its cost of living payments to decide if more are needed. Charities, campaigners and MPs had previously called for a new round of cash support as everyday costs remain high.

Findings from the assessment will be released later this year. However the government has so far said there will be no more payments made after the final £299 sum which was paid out last week.
