DWP and HMRC to pay benefits early this week for Universal Credit, PIP and more
Some people on welfare benefits, including Universal Credit, PIP and state pension among others, will get their payments early this week.
Brits are looking forward to a long weekend as August draws to a close, but the summer bank holiday does mean some schedule changes. Many shops and businesses will close for the day, while bank payments may also be made on a different day than usual.
The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will make early benefit payments on Friday, August 23, to anyone who was due a payment on August 26, which is the bank holiday Monday.

The gov.uk website states: "If your payment date is on a weekend or a bank holiday, you’ll be paid on the working day before."
Monday, August 26, is only a bank holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland - and not in Scotland. The DWP has also confirmed that Jobcentre Plus offices and DWP phone lines will be closed on Monday due the bank holiday.
