Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson backtracks on support for Joe Rogan after N-word controversy

Former WWE Superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has denounced his support for podcast host Joe Rogan following the controversy surrounding Rogan’s use of the N-word.

Over the last few weeks, Joe Rogan has come under fire from the media, with many accusing him of spreading false information about COVID-19 and the vaccine on his podcast.

The situation has become so serious that some artists, namely Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, have asked to have their music removed from Spotify, the home of Rogan’s podcast.

In response to the controversy, Rogan took to Instagram last week to reassure fans that he was only wanting to have “interesting conversations” and thought he was “telling the truth”.

The Instagram post got a lot of attention, even landing on the radar of Dwayne Johnson, who offered some supportive words for his friend.

Johnson commented on the video, praising Rogan for how he put his points across, saying that he was looking forward to having a drink with the 54-year-old sometime soon.

Great stuff here brother. Perfectly articulated. Look forward to coming on one day and breaking out the tequila with you

However, the controversy did not stop there, with singer India Arie sharing multiple clips from throughout the years of Rogan using the N-word on his podcast, which you can read more about via Insider.

Along with his use of the N-word, one of the clips that was posted showed Rogan comparing black neighbourhoods to “Planet of the Apes”.

Following on from these clips emerging, fans altered The Rock as to what was going on, particularly considering he’d just offered Rogan some supportive words on Instagram.

Dear @donwinslow Thank you so much for thisI hear you as well as everyone here 100%I was not aware of his N word
