Dwayne Johnson: More on The Rock making WWE return

Brian Gewirtz the long-time collaborator of The Rock has commented on a possible return to WWE for The Great One. 

As one of the greatest talkers in the history of the business, The Rock worked closely with Brian Gewirtz during his early 2000s heyday putting together his memorable promos. The pair have continued to work together after leaving WWE, too, with Gerwirtz serving as Executive Producer of the season of Young Rock. 

During an interview with TV Insider Gerwirtz was asked if fans could expect to see The Rock back in a WWE ring anytime soon. There is some hope that the 49-year-old will be part of WrestleMania next year, with a potential blockbuster match with cousin and current Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Gerwirtz says he isn’t aware of any imminent return for The People’s Champ, but states that doesn’t mean it won’t happen at some point in the future. 

I sometimes learn of Dwayne’s wrestling aspirations the way everyone else does: through his social media posts,” Gewirtz said. “There are so many factors that go into Dwayne’s appearance in terms of a WWE ring. Between his movie schedule and health. Infamously at WrestleMania against John Cena, it resulted in some pretty horrific injuries that required surgery and the delaying of the Hercules movie at the time.

I also know this is a passion and business he was born into and born with. That never truly goes away. I don’t know if you’ve seen the guy lately, but he is in pretty good shape. I think he could probably do it if push came to shove. I think it comes down to what he wants to do and when. It comes down to what Dwayne wants to do. I’m sure WWE would be more than happy to have him.
