Duracell Daizen and his Celtic marathon act has Motherwell star praying batteries only last 15 minutes

Celtic's marathon man Daizen Maeda CAN be stopped according to his Motherwell adversaries.

The Japanese has been in electric form to start the season under Brendan Rodgers, and put his woes of missing a two-yard sitter to bed against Livingston with a goal of the season contender in the final moments of the game. Maeda has a goal and an assist to his name and took the major plaudits of boss Rodgers for his tireless efforts at the Tony Macaroni. The nifty attacker, according to Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton, is the Parkhead player rivals Rangers and the rest of the division fear the most.

Celtic face off with Stuart Kettlewell's men after a midweek of no action due to being out of the Viaplay Cup, and with Maeda the name on everyone's lips, veteran defender Paul McGinn was asked what his plan was to stop the 25-year-old. He quipped that he hopes the ex-Yokohama Marinos man is beat after 15 minutes, but Motherwell cannot switch off for a second.

He said: "You just hope he tires out after about ten to fifteen minutes. He's just constant, you have to be on the ball all the time and hope you get him on an off day but you just know he will work hard."

Kettlewell expects a tough test from Rodgers men as he added: “I think we’re going to face a team that’s really starting to click into gear. There are some new faces in their side, a new manager, but a manager that obviously knows what the club is all about, that knows what it’s like to taste success.

“I expect them to be really getting up into gear, they’ll carry a major threat and will look to come here and dominate the ball, to play the way that they always do. That presents a massive challenge, but it’s one that we have to relish, off the back of how we’ve played in
