Dunny Tudhope insists Fallen Angel has more than a prayer as Ayrshire jockey rates Classic chances

Danny Tudhope believes Fallen Angel offers his best chance yet of joining the Classic club.

The Scotsman has enjoyed a stellar career in the saddle which has seen him scale some outstanding peaks. Tudhope has a bunch of Group 1 successes on his CV and he’s been across the globe to win them. The Ayrshire man has gone from his Irvine roots to plunder big-race wins in Europe, the Middle East and even snared at Arlington Million in the United States.

Tudhope has also run riot on huge stages in Ireland and in the UK with a four-timer at Royal Ascot two years ago. As yet, victory in one of the five Classics in Britain has eluded him. But that could be all set to change on Sunday as he goes into battle aboard the favourite for the 1,000 Guineas in Fallen Angel. Tudhope is excited by the prospects of Karl Burke’s charge and told Record Sport: “It’s definitely my best opportunity of a Classic. Fallen Angel, she’s got a huge chance.

“She’s been there and done it. She’s a Group 1 winner already as a two-year-old. Obviously, she’s stepping up in trip now which will definitely suit her. She will need it.

“She’s a lovely filly. I know her inside-out and I’m looking forward to it. We had a recent racecourse gallop and we were really pleased with the way she went.

“She wouldn’t set you alight at home. She just does what she has to do and it is a very intelligent filly. Sometimes, when you ride her, you think: I’m not sure she’s gone well or what, but she’s just looking after herself and those are usually the best ones, the ones who look after themselves.

“Hence the reason for the racecourse gallop. Just to see if she’s still got it and we believe she has. She deserves to be at the top of the market.”
