Dundee vs Rangers is ON after Dens Park inspection but there will be ANOTHER one with rain on the way

Rangers’ clash with Dundee has been given the green light after an 11am pitch inspection at Dens Park.

But referee Don Robertson will take a second look at the surface at 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoon with more rain on the way before kick-off. The Dark Blues have already had FOUR games called-off this season on home turf due to the weather and a Met Office Yellow weather warning has been in place throughout Wednesday. The weekend's Scottish Premiership clash with Motherwell went ahead following TWO checks on the turf – and Rangers faced a nervous wait for the second inspection.

Philippe Clement had called for an early decision on the "crazy" situation - hoping that the SPFL would make a call on the game the night before the fixture. The boss was made to wait until 11am for his first news if the Scottish Premiership clash will survive the downpour. Weather reports suggest that the rain will be off in Dundee until around 1pm - but heavy rain is expected from then until at 10pm.

As it stands, Rangers get the chance to overtake Celtic at the top of the Premiership and ram home their status as marginal favourites to win the trophy, with the post-split clash at Parkhead taking on even more importance. A Dundee statement read: "Following this morning’s scheduled pitch inspection the match referee has decided that the pitch is currently playable. However, with rain forecast for later today both clubs and the league have agreed for a further pitch inspection to take place at 3.30pm today."
