Dundee United stars slapped with goalie glove but Tony Watt sees Kilmarnock prankster coming

Dundee United players were left perplexed at Rugby Park on Tuesday evening after a Kilmarnock fan slapped them on the head upon exiting the dugout in their 2-1 Premier Sports Cup loss to the hosts.

Liam Fox's side took to Ayrshire in the hope of presenting their fans with at least a glimmer of trophy cabinet success, knowing that a win against Derek McInnes' men would put them within two games of cup glory via the semi-final. That didn't go to plan, however. Kyle Lafferty 's early strike from the penalty spot was quickly cancelled out by a Glenn Middleton effort in a pulsating tie - though Dan Armstrong's winner was enough to send Killie through to the knockouts where they await tonight's draw.

And the day started in bizarre fashion for Tangerines players - after footage showed Fox's men being slapped by a Kilmarnock fan as they emerged from the dugout for the first half.

Most players managed to dodge the brush from the home supporter, though former Celtic starlet Tony Watt was not happy with events as he stuck an arm out to deflect away from a potential tapping on the head.

However, the Killie fan was equal to his challenge, evading the stray arm before moving onto the next United player.

The draw for the semi-finals takes place on Wednesday evening after Rangers host Dundee at Ibrox. Killie are the only team through, with Celtic/Motherwell, Rangers/Dundee and Aberdeen/Partick Thistle being the other teams.
