Dundee slam Rangers fans over 'unacceptable actions' and 'sectarian singing' as club launch probe

Dundee have blasted Rangers fans for "unacceptable actions" at Dens Park after a massive pyro display caused the Wednesday night game to be stopped.

On the pitch, Philippe Clement's men swerved to a 5-0 Scottish Premiership victory on a night when it was delay after delay, with severe weather conditions causing chaos to the travelling side's arrival. That was before a full-stand of flares erupted from the Rangers end, causing a cloud of smoke to interfere with the match with players forced down the tunnel before reemerging to get things underway. The SPFL condemned the display as "very concerning and unwelcome".

Dundee have now followed suit as they revealed an investigation is underway, following an investigation launched by Police Scotland, working with the authorities over the issue. The Dee condemned the continued problems over 'flares, offensive banners and singing of sectarian songs' across Scottish football.

A club statement said: "Dundee Football Club are investigating and working with the relevant authorities after a series of unacceptable actions in the stands at last night’s match at The Scot Foam Stadium at Dens Park against Rangers.

"Despite robust practice by all clubs in the SPFL and the SFA at Hampden, flares, offensive banners and singing of sectarian songs continue to be a problem all across our game in Scottish football.

"As we are working with the authorities we are unable to comment on the situation at this time. The club will comment further once the ongoing investigation has taken place and concluded."
