Dundee reveal Dens Park IS playable but FURTHER pitch inspection planned ahead of Motherwell clash with SPFL on alert

Dundee have confirmed their Dens Park surface is PLAYABLE as things stand - but a precautionary pitch inspection WILL take place on Saturday morning.

We told earlier today how the Dark Blues could have been forced to play their Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell away from their home ground over fears of a postponement and the major headache it would leave SPFL fixture schedulers ahead of the league split coming into action.

Dundee have already had FOUR matches called off on their own patch this season due to the surface being unplayable, however they have moved to assure fans the park is in playing order at this stage following a pitch inspection from a category one referee. The club are aware of rainfall forecasted in the build up and have moved to cover the full pitch with rain covers for that period of time. But a check will be made on Saturday morning to make sure the surface remains playable ahead of the afternoon kick-off.

A club statement read: "Ahead of Saturday’s cinch Premiership fixture against Motherwell at The Scot Foam Stadium, Dundee Football Club can confirm that the pitch is playable. A category one referee inspected the pitch on Thursday afternoon and stated the pitch was playable at the time of inspection.

"This is the result of the hard work put in from the club staff and a range of contractors. The club are aware that there is further rain forecast for tomorrow and Saturday morning and therefore the full pitch has been covered with rain covers for that period.

"Due to the weather forecast a precautionary pitch inspection has been scheduled for Saturday morning to ensure the pitch is in the same condition as it currently is. We look forward to seeing a large Dundee support out in force on
