Dundalk discussions 'critical' for the future of club

Dundalk have said that the next 24 hours are "critical" for the future of the Oriel Park side.

The County Louth club have also expressed concern over what they have described as "a lot of false information spread about the club on social media".

Talks are ongoing, according to the club, between the owner and interested parties both domestically and from oversees in a bid to secure the future of the club.

Dundalk are currently sitting rock bottom in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division and are in grave danger of getting relegated, while there have been issues at the club regarding staff not getting paid in recent weeks.

The club confirmed that both players and coaches had received outstanding wages last Thursday, while they have committed to remaining transparent throughout the ongoing talks relating to the ownership of the club.

"We are fully aware of the rumours and false information that is circulating on social media this evening," said Dundalk, via their official social media channels. "Our owner is in discussions with different groups, domestically and overseas.

"The next 24 hours is a critical time for the club and we hope that we can get a deal done that keeps us going forward. We will keep everyone updated with any developments."
