Troy Parrott finds the net again for AZ Alkmaar
Troy Parrott scored his sixth goal of the season for AZ Alkmaar but it wasn't enough his club to avoid defeat to Utrecht in the Eredivisie on Sunday.
The Republic of Ireland striker opened the scoring on 24 minutes in the Dutch top flight fixture after a defensive mix-up allowed him to be teed up for a tap-in for his fifth league goal of the campaign.
But Utrecht fought back with goals from Yoann Cathline and Paxten Aaronson in each half to take all three points.
Parrott's goal was his second of the week, having scored the winner for AZ from the penalty spot on Wednesday in the 3-2 win over Swedish side Elfsborg in their opening League Phase fixture of the Europa League.
The Dubliner, who joined AZ in the summer from Tottenham after a fruitful loan spell at fellow Dutch club Excelsior Rotterdam last season, scored his first goals for the club when he plundered four in a 9-1 Eredivisie victory over Heerenveen earlier this month.
Parrott has earned 23 caps and scored five times for Ireland since making his senior international debut in 2019 but did not come off the bench in new Boys in Green manager Heimir Hallgrimsson's first two matches in charge against England and Greece in the Nations League.
