Duncan Ferguson WON'T rule out more wild Inverness celebrations as boss admits 'I'm an emotional guy'
Duncan Ferguson insists last weekend’s wild scenes of celebration with the fans were impromptu - but is not ruling out a repeat on his home debut.
The new Inverness Caley Thistle manager was mobbed by a noisy away following after holding out for a 3-2 triumph over Arbroath in his first match - the Highlanders’ first league win of the season. While it was an eye-catching moment and great piece of publicity that went viral on social media, big Dunc insisted he was acting on impulse after the thrill of claiming a vital three points.
The former Rangers, Everton and Newcastle striker said: “I didn't think about it. I'm an emotional guy, but the fans are the lifeblood of the fans. They will always be here, while guys like me pass through. We'd want to be here forever, but as managers, that doesn't happen. Fans will always be here, It's their club. I was emotional after getting the first three points and so were the players.
"I know how much money these guys spend. They travel up and down the country and they'd never seen a victory. It was fantastic to celebrate that moment with them. It is nice to connect. I am here for them.”
Ferguson has certainly made a big impact with players talking up the intensity of his training sessions and returning confidence in the camp. The new manager stressed they were only as good as their last result, warning that the hard work has only just begun.
Ferguson said: "The morale is definitely up. There was a long period of time without a victory for the team.
"Once you get the first win, you can build upon it - people start believing they are a good team and they can win games. I know they had been unlucky in previous matches, so it was encouraging to me that this team were not far away.
