Dumfries Running Club members enjoy a fancy dress Hallowe'en themed run

In order to prove that Dumfries Running Club is about so much more than individual race performances, members turned up on Monday night in fancy dress for the traditional Hallowe'en run to the Midsteeple and to St Michael’s churchyard followed by suitably themed snacks and drinks back at Nunholm.

Prizes were awarded for the best dressed runners. Trish Murphy and Karen Littlejohn were dressed as skeletons and ghosts and Nicola Ross, Rebecca Queen and Claire McLaren came as the three blind mice and Robert Gordon, Ben Wells and Emma Webster were a scarily effective trio. More than 25 runners entered into the spirit of the event and had fun into the bargain.

The event was split into two, with those aiming for slower than 20 minutes starting half an hour earlier than those aiming for the very fastest performances.

The three club members were in the sub 20 minute race and Adam was delighted to gain a PB in an excellent third place in 15.40. Jamie also ran very well with his PB in 16.44 finishing in 20th place, and for Kevin, his time of 19.55 continued his run of excellent quality performances.

Monday night group

The Monday night beginners and improvers group meets at Dumfries Sports Club on Nunholm Road at 6.30pm where organised groups are led over distances from 2km at a suitable pace up to five miles. Prospective newcomers are reminded that high visibility clothing is required now that nights are darker. Further
