Duffy captains Ireland as Doherty and McClean return for Dutch clash

Stephen Kenny made two changes to his side for tonight's Euro 2024 qualification clash with the Netherlands at the Aviva Stadium, kick-off 7:45pm.

Matt Doherty and James McClean returned to the side for the vital clash with the Dutch. Wolves defender Doherty is back from suspension, and takes over from Alan Browne at right wing-back.

Browne started in Paris and moves into midfield, while Wrexham’s McClean steps in for Enda Stevens, who was ruled out through injury.

Otherwise, the manager has kept faith with the side who played on Thursday night with Shane Duffy taking on the captain’s role in a trio at the back with John Egan and Nathan Collins. Egan captained the side in that game.

In midfield, Josh Cullen links up with Browne, who replaces Jayson Molumby, while Jason Knight will also line up in the midfield with licence to roam forward to join the front two.

Adam Idah will lead the line against Ronald Koeman’s side, supported by Chiedozie Ogbene, following his excellent showing in Paris against the World Cup finalists.

Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman made three changes to the side which beat the Greeks 3-0 as Matthijs de Ligt, Mats Wieffer and Donyell Malen come in for Lutsharel Geertruida, Marten de Roon and Wout Weghorst.
