'Drug dealer' driver arrested after SIX injured in Bonfire Night hit-and-run
A suspected drug dealer was arrested after six people were injured in a hit-and-run horror on Bonfire Night. Emergency services were called out to Greenside Street, near to Bob Massey Close, in Openshaw at 8.30pm on Tuesday (November 5).
Greater Manchester Police says a Volkswagen Golf R car collided with six pedestrians - four male and two female - aged between 13 and 68. They were rushed to hospital for treatment.
One male has suffered injuries that are likely to be life-changing, GMP says. The Golf driver, a 36-year-old man, failed to stop at the scene.

He was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, assault of an emergency worker, possession with intent to supply drugs, failing to stop, aggravated vehicle taking and driving without third-party insurance. He has since been released on bail.
It is understood people had gathered in the street for Bonfire Night celebrations when the car was driven into pedestrians. Witnesses are being urged to come forward as detectives continue their investigation.
Detective Constable Jake Horler-Newsham, from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Since the incident we are continuing to investigate and would like to appeal to the local community to get in touch if they have any further footage available. We know there was a large number of people out that evening watching the fireworks so are keen to obtain more evidence in the form of mobile phone videos, CCTV and doorbell footage to help us with our enquiries."
