Driver overtook cops before leading them on high speed pursuit - it ended when he ran out of petrol

A driver overtook an unmarked police car before leading them on a high speed chase. Stefan Boeru Sorin was driving an Audi A6 along Station Road in Swinton when he was spotted speeding by officers.

Activating their emergency lights and siren, they followed Sorin, 24, indicating for him to stop.

The pursuit culminated on Manchester Road, when the Audi was caught up with by officers from the firearms unit. It later became clear that there were weapons in the car, Manchester Crown Court heard.
